Not just the Classes of 1958, but all Kelvyn Park High School alumni lost a friend when Don Ovington passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2007. He was 72 years old. If it weren't for Don's good help with locating our classmates, any hope for pulling off a Kelvyn Park '58 - 50th Reunion would be very slim indeed. But, that's not all Don did for us. He acted as Consultant to our Reunion Committee and several other KP reunion committees. This is our first and only 50th KP reunion, but Don had been through KP reunion planning many times before. He guided us through the process - from selecting a location, to selecting a menu, and much more. Don was there for us.

Don graduated from Kelvyn in 1952. In 1982, Wally Hommerding, Kelvyn Park Class of January 1950, had a reunion for his class, and again in 1986 he had another reunion. Wally asked Don Ovington to join that reunion committee, but because Don was working on his class reunion, Class of June 1952, he didn't join Wally's committee at that time. In 1989, Wally asked Don, again, to join with his group and work on a multi class KP reunion, and this time Don did join up with Wally . They had their 1989 multi class reunion, another in 1990, and another very successful reunion in September 1999. Their list of KP alumni, addresses and phone numbers grew, and grew, until it eventually evolved into the web site kelvynparkalumni.com that Don designed and maintained up until the time of his death. Wally Hommerding passed away on May 13, 1986 and Don Ovington dedicated his web site to the memory of Wally.

We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to Mrs. Ovington and family. Don was a good friend to us, and he will be greatly missed.
