Janice has fond memories of her Kelvyn
friends and classmates and the fun times they had in
class, in numerous clubs and activities (honorary and
otherwise). She especially enjoyed working on the
Panther. Janice's college major, political science, gave
her the opportunity to be "right there" when history was
being made. She worked for U.S. Senator Warren B.
Magnuson on Capitol Hill during the vote on the test ban
treaty, and when President Kennedy was assassinated.
Among some other fascinating "history" Janice was 'up
close to" was when she worked for Chairman Larry O'Brien
of the Democratic Party through "Watergate" - two
presidential campaigns, i.e., Hubert Humphrey and George
McGovern; Commissioner Larry O'Brien and the NBA during
its revitalization (politics to sports); Conrad Black of
Hollinger International, which owns the Chicago
Sun-Times, prior to his being tried, convicted and
imprisoned -- "Black Gate" to Janice -- and she testified
at his trial in 2007; and consequently she participated
in a little bit of "history in the making" -- Janice says
that meeting many of the "participants" in these
endeavors was fascinating and thrilling! She likes to
play the piano, and she enjoys "cultural" New York City
-- the Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, concerts,
plays, museums, taking advantage of the opportunities
presented, entertaining friends for dinner, and
traveling. In her senior year at Kelvyn, Janice had a
part in "Mother Is A Freshman" -- She played an "older
woman" -- She said, "But, now I don't have to play at
it!" Her favorite teachers were Mrs. Nordman, Mrs.
Wright, Mr. Kenny and Mrs. Ramsey. She says these
teachers made their subject come alive, realistic,
enjoyable and thought provoking. Janice says she is too
young to retire. She's now working for the CEO of a new
media company in New York which owns television stations
in various states, Bonten Media Group, which has future
expansion intentions. She says, "I love it! New
Challenges!" Janice graduated from Mozart Elementary
School.
