Karen married her high school
sweetheart, Tom DeGrazio, in April of 1960. They were
happily married for 30 years when Tom tragically passed
away in 1990. Karen believes her life's greatest
accomplishment to be her daughter, Michele, her two
grandchildren, April age 25, and Jonathan age 23, and her
great grand daughter, Gianna who will be 6 years old in
August. Karen's favorite pastimes are needlework,
gardening, travel, and most of all being with her family!
Karen lived in Chicago for 26 years, and after moved to
Elmwood Park, Illinois. She has so many happy memories of
her days at Kelvyn that Karen said it's hard to narrow
down just one or two. She made many friends that she
keeps in close contact with to this day. Her favorite
class was Home Economics. (Ever eat anything those girls
in cooking class made? Believe me it wasn't bad. I made
eggs goldenrod in cooking class that I still "wow"
everyone with to this day!) Karen's favorite teachers
were Mrs. Macallini and Mrs. Nordman, neither of whom
were Home Ed teachers. (Huh?) Karen graduated from Nixon
elementary school. She is really looking forward to our
50th reunion and seeing everyone again. Karen proudly
serves on our 50th reunion committee.
