Phyllis worked at the Rogers Park
Library after graduating from Kelvyn. In 1960 Phyllis
married her high school sweetheart, Lou. They have two
great children and 4 grandchildren (and one grandchild on
the way). Her fondest memories of her days at Kelvyn are
the good friends she made at KP. She especially enjoyed
Mr. Kenny's biology class. Mrs. Bergstrom was Phyllis'
division teacher. Phyllis says Mrs. Bergstrom was a REAL
lady who always made Phyllis feel special. Phyllis and
Lou moved to northern California in 1978. She was offered
a position with State Farm and became an agent in 1981.
She had a very successful career and even qualified for
the millionaire trips and traveled around the world with
them. Phyllis retired 5 years ago and moved to southern
California to be near her daughter and her family.
Phyllis and Lou have a very busy retired life now. She
does lots of volunteer work. Her husband, Lou, is a Ham
Radio Operator, and they have made some wonderful friends
in southern California. Phyllis and Lou love their busy
life there. They do a lot of entertaining, belong to a
book club, hold membership chair at their local
Synagogue, and they're doing a lot of traveling - 12
cruises in 5 years! Phyllis says Annie, a little
Malatese, and Honey Bun, a Shih-Tzu, keep her young. The
Frank's still love Chicago and they try to visit their
long time friends there every couple of years. Phyllis
graduated from Darwin Elementary School. She's looking
forward to seeing everyone at our 50th KP
Reunion.
