After graduating from the University
of Illinois, Grace worked as an advertising copywriter,
editor and media buyer for five years before becoming a
stay at home mom. Grace met her husband, Len, while
attending college. Len is a retired trial lawyer. Grace
and Len have three children -- Steve, Jenny and Liz.
Steve practices law. Jenny is in environmental science
and sociology, and Liz teaches architecture at the
University of Kentucky. Liz and her husband oversee a
group of students in New Orleans who are studying the
Gulf Coast issues. Grace and Len will become grandparents
for the first time in July of 2007.
Grace spent many years in volunteer work
in her community. One of her most rewarding experiences
was serving as a trustee for the Glen Ellyn Public
Library and the Glen Ellyn Library Foundation in the
90's. The Board passed a referendum and built a beautiful
new library. Grace attributes her time spent at Kelvyn to
laying the foundation for her to become involvement in
community affairs later in life. Because Kelvyn was such
a small school, Grace had the opportunity to participate
in many different activities. She said, "That's the
beauty of a small school." Best of all, Grace remembers
the kind, caring and fun people at Kelvyn. Grace believes
they shaped her future, and for that she is grateful. Of
her days at Kelvyn she said, "What happy days!"
She now spends her time as a Chicago
Architectural Foundation docent giving tours of
skyscrapers and Millennium Park. She likes to golf and
work in her garden in the summer months. Grace and her
husband, Len, also enjoy birding and travel.
