When And Where?
Your reunion committee searched high and wide to find just the perfect location to celebrate our 50th Kelvyn Park High School - Classes of 1958 - 50th Reunion. And, we found it! Our headquarters hotel is the Radisson Hotel Chicago O'Hare at 1450 East Touhy Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois, and our banquet will be held at the adjacent Fountain Blue Banquets and Convention Center.
Mark your calendar for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 3, 4, and 5, 2008. We originally wanted a September date, but we were told that September is a big convention month in the Chicago area, and that the Radisson and surrounding hotels would be busy catering to the conventions. So, we chose the next best - the first weekend in October. Chicago area weather is usually very agreeable the first part of October. So, let's hope Mother Nature will be kind to us. We've already put in our order for good weather!
For the out-of-towners, the Radisson has free 24-7 airport shuttle service. So, mark your calendar for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 3, 4, and 5, 2008. We look forward to seeing everyone at our Kelvyn Park High School - Classes of 1958 - 50th Reunion!
Schedule of Events
• Welcome Reception - Friday, October 3, 2008 - 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Get ready for a fun packed Welcome Reception to be held at The Radisson Hotel, 1450 East Touhy Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois - Phone: (847) 296-8866 -- Hors d'oeuvres will be served - cash bar - Cocktail attire. There will be lots of KP memorabilia on display! Let the reminiscing begin!
• Photo Session - Friday, October 3, 2008 - 5:10 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Photos will be taken at the Radisson Hotel following the Welcome Reception. The January class, the June class, and group photos from elementary "feeder" schools will be taken. Individual photos, will be taken at each of the tables. Photos will be available the same night. Say cheese!
• Gala Reunion Banquet and Entertainment - Friday October, 3, 2008 - Fountain Blue Banquet and Convention Center (adjacent to the Radisson Hotel) 6:00 p.m. - Midnight - Cocktail hour from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. An "open bar" is included in the price of your reunion ticket. Wine will be served at each table with dinner, and hors d'oeuvres will be served during the cocktail hour. But save room for a scrumptious dinner!
• Tour of our Alma Mater - Kelvyn Park High School - Saturday morning, October 4, 2008 - Board busses at 9:00 a.m., at the Radisson Hotel - Dress comfortable. We will be greeted at KP by our tour guide and escorted to Kelvyn's library or auditorium where a Continental Breakfast will be served. After, we will be taken on a tour through KP. Following the tour, we will board the busses again for a nostalgia ride around the "the old neighborhood" maybe past your old house, or your old "hang out" -- Then on to our Pizza Party at Gino's East, 8725 Higgins Road! What better time to wear your KP T-shirt, hat or to carry your KP tote bag!
• Get-Together at the Radisson Hotel Longhorn Steak House - Saturday evening, October 4, 2008 - 8:00 p.m., until you're ready to leave - or when the place closes! Dress casual if you plan to join us for some more laughs and reminiscing. Here's another opportunity to wear your reunion T-shirt!
• Sunday Breakfast Brunch - Radisson Hotel - Or - Sunday Brunch aboard the Lake Michigan luxury yacht, The Odyssey - Sunday, October 5, 2008 - A buffet breakfast will be served in the Radisson's restaurant from 6:30 a.m., until 10:30 a.m. Those taking the Lake Michigan brunch cruise will board a chartered bus or van to go to Navy Pier. Before and after the cruise there will be time to explore Navy Pier, too! After, the chartered bus or van will return to the Radisson.
- The Radisson O'Hare Hotel in Des Plaines, Illinois is our headquarter hotel where we will hold our Welcome Reception on Friday, October 3, 2008. Also there will be an informal cocktail party at Radisson's brand new Longhorn Steak House on Saturday evening, October 4, 2008.
- The Fountain Blue Banquet and Convention Center, right next door to the Radisson O'Hare Hotel is where we will hold our gala reunion banquet immediately following our Welcome Reception on Friday, October 3, 2008.
- On Saturday morning, October 4, 2008, we will board a chartered bus to take us to our alma mater, Kelvyn Park High School, for a continental breakfast and a guided tour of good old KP.
- Following the tour of Kelvyn on Saturday, October 4, 2008, we will board the chartered bus again. We will take a quick drive through the "old neighborhood" -- perhaps past the house where you used to live, or maybe we'll pass one of your old hang-outs. Then we're headed to Gino's East for a fun pizza party.
- On Sunday morning, October 5, 2008, we will board the luxury yacht, Odyssey, for an elegant buffet brunch and a cruise on Lake Michigan where you can take in the spectacular view of Chicago's magnificient skyline. A chartered bus will take us to an from Navy Pier.
